NIKE ERRA NATIONAL MEN’S 6-STAGE & WOMEN’S 4-STAGE ROAD RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS Report
South of England clubs Belgrave Harriers (men) and Aldershot, Farnham & District (women) retained their titles in good conditions, albeit with a fresh wind that made for pretty good running conditions as Sutton Park again played host to a major event.
Aldershot pretty well dominated the women’s race, even without Steph Twell who was away in Amsterdam collected a best junior of the year award, but Belgrave had to work hard for their victory to make it seven six-stage titles in eight years as Notts and Newham took the minor medals. Read More

The AAA Tom Pink Relays
The AAA have generously been left a bequest by the late Alice and Lewis Pink, for a children’s programme in memory of their son Tom who was tragically killed in an accident in the early 1970’s. After discussion with the Pink Family, it was agreed to use this gift to fund a series of children’s relays in support of and leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The proposals are for these Tom Pink Relays to be held at Athletic and other sporting fixtures at both indoor and outdoor venues. The format of the relays has been thoroughly tested and proved very popular with both children and spectators and is directed at the under 11 and under 13 age groups.

Tom Pink Relays, Lee Valley
Pink Family & David HemeryThe Tom Pink relays moved South and were staged at the Lee Valley Athletic Centre. This was the fourth time these innovative series of events had been held this year. The initiative came about through the generosity of the late Alice Pink and the AAA to whom the legacy was left.

The AAA whilst no longer the governing body for athletics still has a role to play in supporting competition providers, stimulating and encouraging interest in the sport and acting as a focal point for the invaluable volunteers. The receipt of the legacy was most appropriate in its timing as it gives an ideal opportunity to meet these objectives in the run up to the Olympics in 2012.
