SL Match 2 Milton Keynes

Back down to earth with a bump for the B team on Saturday at Milton Keynes. Last place and we were lucky to get that. High quality opposition, strong winds and, in particular, a weakened team made for a difficult day all round. When I say "weakened team", I'm referring to the fact that on Thursday, Friday and Saturday a number of athletes who'd said they were coming dropped out, and this cost us points in eleven out of the nineteen events. I haven't done an exact calculation, but I reckon this cost us two match places.

Amongst the few bright sparks were Sam Chappell breaking the B Team hammer record on his debut for the club, and Paul Egboh's eight points in the A String sprints, which won him Kent AC Man of the Match. There was also a very tasty performance from Ed Baxter-Derrington (U17) in the guest 100m.

Feel free to browse the attached wealth of information while you consider the next match at Mile End, east London, on 6th June. I may arrange to meet everyone at Lewisham station for that one, then change my mind and go shopping instead.
