Another great day for Kent AC at the 2nd Kent League at Tonbridge on Sat 28 Oct 2006.
Team managers Pete Boxshall and Richard Munn’s efforts to encourage a more serious approach to the Kent League paid off handsomely in the second Kent League at Tonbridge on Saturday 28th October as the Senior Men’s team missed victory by just a single point. However, this was more than compensated for by the fact that over thirty Kent AC athletes participated in the various races, the highlight being a superb individual victory by James Connor and victory by the Men’s Junior Team.
The Senior Men’s team comprised three of the National 6-stage team and James Connor was soon away in a group of four containing Kent County multi-champion Barry Royden. James was well supported by Andrew Dunwoody, Michael Claff and Richard Munns running together a little further down the field. Going up the long hill on the second of the three long laps, James pulled away from the group and pushed on relentlessly to the finish winning by over 100 yards. Once again we managed to close in a scoring twelve for the duodec trophy.
The Junior race was notable for a fine run by Peter Clark (a youth). The team was led home by Rawlston who showed his track speed with a fine sprint at the finish to win. Theo Hadlow made a very promising debut in his first ever cross country race.
Eight women competed in the Women’s race. First home was Hellen Dibble followed home by Andria Jeffreys, and Jane Eldridge.
