Cross Country

Runners from the club regularly compete at all levels of Cross Country running, inter-club, county, regional and national races - no matter what the conditions (well, mostly!!). This includes club championships, London Championships, Kent XC League, Kent County XC, South of the Thames Championships, Southern and National Championships.

Here is the club's latest cross-country news:

London XC Champs [0]

Well done to everyone who ran on Saturday at a freezing cold Parliament Hill. We had some very good individual performances such as myself finishing 6th in the race (3rd in the London Champs due to a few guest runners), Rich Munn having a strong run and showing that his marathon training is paying dividends.

South of the Thames 5m [0]

Well done to those eight people who turned out at Croydon on the weekend to run the 5 mile race at Lloyd Park. The 4 man team was 5th and the 8 man team was 2nd behind Herne Hill Harriers

Welcome back to Lee Haze who had a respectable race on his return to competition for the club.

A few lines about the latest Kent League XC [0]

For the juniors we only had 2 under 17's and 2 under 20's for this fixture but they all acquitted themselves well. On a very demanding course at Mote Park Alfie Grimsey improved on the last fixture by coming home 2nd in his race, just behind the talented Seb Harding and not that far behind the winner of the race - one of the Tyler brothers who was in the under 20 section.

B-group training schedule [0]

Dennis has put together a training schedule for the middle distance B-group squad for Winter 2008 up to Xmas.

Kent XC League at Capstone Park [0]

A small group of young athletes gave a good account of themselves at Capstone Park. In the under 15's David Rowbotham came home 15th in what was a very strong field. David had a bad patch in the middle of the race but as usual came through strongly in the closing stages.

SEAA Road Relays and the forthcoming XC Season [0]

national league A-team 2008 [0]

The Southern road relays are on Sat 27th Sept. Book in diaries. It is Aldershot as usual. We're looking for a strong M40 and M50 teams, so Luke says no excuses. It would be good if you could race either assembley league at beckenham or club 5000m so the selectors can have a look at current form.

Gary Thornton represents Ireland at the World XC 2008 [0]

Massive congratulations to Gary Thornton, who after finishing 8th in the Irish trials was rewarded with a run in the World Champs in Edinburgh and his first International vest. He is also the club's first member to compete at the World Cross Country Championships, held in Edinburgh in 2008.

Kent County XC 2008 [0]

The County Champs was again held at the County showground in Detling. The weather was good and the course was surprisingly dry considering the amount of rain fall in the past week. Initially it was a worry that we may not be able to get 12 people running as injury (Jermaine and Lenny) and sickness (Lee Hine) threatened our chances.

Report from the wind and rain at the Kent Vets XC Champs 07 [0]

Kent Messenger cup won by the M40 XC team [0]

It was looking touch and go whether we could get a team out the Kent vets 40 cross-country champs in the lead up to Sat 8th Dec, with injuries and other committments. Let alone retain the team title.

Kent Lge XC & Wilmington 10k [0]

On Saturday, there was an excellent turnout for the junior & U17 men and womens team at the second Kent XC league race of the season. The junior team finished in 2nd place and remain in 2nd place in the overall standings.
