Club runners of all abilities compete in numerous road racing events, and we traditionally field solid teams in the Southern and National Road Relays.
Kent AC also host the annual Sidcup-10 10 mile road race. The fast-flat course tempts runners from all over the South East and is ideally timed as an excellent London Marathon warm-up. See the Sidcup-10 section on this website for more details on this.
See below for Kent AC's recent road racing news:
Brighton 10k [0]
A small but solid B group squad took third team place in this large competitive seafront 10k. Ok Chris Greenwood is training with the A group now, but his heart is still b group even if his legs are A standard.
Frankfurt Marathon Club Record [0]
Yet another Club Record went in 2011 as a superb run from James Connor produced a time of 2 hrs 18 min 30sec in the Frankfurt Marathon. It was held in chilly but windless conditions and the meticulous planning in his preparation paid off as he went through halfway spot on his target of 68 min 35 sec.
Magnificent 3rd place at the Southern 6 Stage [0]
A magnificent third place for the senior men’s team in the Southern six stage relay meant the club’s year of success continued. Prior to the race there was optimism that we would have a top ten finish or possibly equal the club’s best ever fifth position.
Southend 10k [0]
Kent AC travelled across the river to take on Essex's finest in perhaps the countys largest and most competitive road 10k. Local club Southend AC always turn out in force and normally win the team event, but after a 2nd place finish in 2009 Kent went one better this year to win the 4 to count team competition by the narrowest of margins.
Connor and Gilbert have storming runs at the UK Half Marathon Champs [0]
On a warm, sunny but very windy morning in Britstol the half marathon set off at 9:30 am. Immediately the two Kenyans hit the front pursued early on Great Britain runner by Thomas Abyu. James Connor and Nick Torry (Serpentine AC, but trains at Ladywell) set off together with a Sri Lankan 2:16 marathoner.
Closing 2011 Assembly Race at Beckenham [0]
At the final Assembly league race of the season at Beckenham, not content to just win the A and B leagues the club went out in style with further emphatic wins for both strings. Rich Munn rounded off his campaign as first scorer and third overall and finished in second place in the individual competition won by Dean Lacy.
Multiple Team Wins at Victoria Park [0]
Congratulations to all who raced at Victoria Park's Assembley League on Thursday- it was a great turnout. So many runners we had to borrow extra numbers ! Our first 4 in the top 10 and second 4 in the top 20 gave us comfortable A & B string wins.
Mid Kent 5 Miler [0]
The Mid Kent 5 lived up to its reputation as a PB course with PBs all round for Kent AC's runners. Stuart Beaney finished in 2nd place in 27.05 a full 3 minutes quicker than last year, showing how much he has progressed.
Elmbridge 10k [0]
Yet more evidence of the B squads strength in depth as Kent AC retained the team title we won last year. Despite only 2 of the same runners as last year being in the 6 to count the B group registered a cumulative time of 3 hours 32 minutes- an average of 35 minutes 20 seconds- to see off teams from Stagglers,Clapham Chasers,Sutton Runners and Ranelagh Harriers.
Assembly League at The Dome [0]
It was another strong performance from the club and although Cambridge Harriers scored an impressive1,2,3 to win the A Team 4 to count , not only were our A string 2nd our B string won the B team race by a country mile and were in fact the third team overall.
Dulwich Midsummer 5k [0]
A couple of late withdrawals left the b group with only 3 runners in the race. Marathon men Matthew Llewellin and Paul Bell in their first summer of shorter distances continued to learn how different the shorter races are.
Weald of Kent 10 Mile [0]
Hot humid conditions and a thin field of quicker runners left the leaders facing gruelling solo runs not conducive to fast times. Despite this the race was won in an impressive course record of 52.56.
On Course at Victoria Park [0]
In the 3rd Assembly League Road Race, this time over a shortened course from the usual 3.5 mile one in Victoria Park, Hackney, Kent AC yet again showed their dominance by winning their 3rd successive team race in the 6 race series as well as coming 2nd in the B competition on the day.
