After the dreadful weather of the previous week, we were relieved that only a few showers and a moderate wind spoilt otherwise perfect running conditions. As the record field of 400 sped off down Hurst Road, multi Kent County X-country champion Barry Royden opened up an early lead, but by halfway round the first of the 3 laps he had been joined by Kent's James Connor. By the end of the lap James had forged a lead that he continued to increase to the end to win in 51min 21 sec.
Behind, Chris Lionnet found a nice little group to run with including last year's winner Mike Boucher of Aldershot. He managed to slip away from these for a teriffic third place while Richard Munn completed the 3 to score team for a close victory over Medway & Maidstone. Dartford Road Runners won the women's team race.
