uka indoor city challenge final

Immediately after competing at Brunel, Joe Appiah and Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun drove up to Sheffield and represented London South in this 8 team final competition. Jeffrey won the 60m sprint and came 2nd in the 200m after being drawn in a very tight inside lane. Joe with his old tired legs managed to performed well after 4 rounds of 60mH and 60m the day before.
The day started badly for him when he arrived for his competition and was refused an athletes pass. He was asked to get the team manager to prove he was a competitir. As he arrived at the check-in desk, I can only guess that the lady thought he was Jeffrey and Anike Shand-Whittingham's dad!

The day before in Brunel, Jonathan Brown put his disappointment of UK Trials behind to run another pb in the 60m. Matthew Wekpe made an appearance and did very well on very little training (so he says). Ricardo Martin also improved his pb and Paul Egboh equalled his seasons best.
