Join fellow Kent AC members in their annual trudge round London following the sprightly and the reckless in the London marathon. And support this year's participants: David Child, Andy Farquharson, Connor Pollock and Pete Bosxhall. Len is arranging the spectator party, meeting in time for the blue mass start (9.45) at the Shell petrol station on the north side of Shooters Hill road just east of its junction with Stratheden Rd. For more info contact Len Reilly.
Also this weekend, Phil Sanders, fresh from the Paris Marathon, is taking part in an attempt on the TEAM 48 HOUR TREADMILL WORLD RECORD! In Paris, Phil finished 226th in 2h44:05.
There are 12 altogether and they’ll be taking it in turns to hop on and off a single treadmill which will be in the shop front of Lillywhites at Piccadilly Circus. The challenge starts at 7.30am on Friday 11th April, so finishing at 7.30am Sunday 13th… just in time for most of the team to quick-step it over to Blackheath to run the London Marathon as a victory lap! The current record stands at 416 miles, which means if we can keep the treadmill ticking over at quicker than 3 hour marathon pace, we’ve cracked it. Doddle! Er…
Everything’s been planned with military precision so far, down to the schedules. Phil will be in attendance at the following times:
Friday 11th 12:30 – 17:30
Saturday 12th 3:30 – 8:30
Saturday 12th 17:30 – 22:30
Sunday 13th 5.30 – 7.30
If anyone would like to come along to offer support, hurl abuse, or just deflect my attention away from Burger King across the road it would be much appreciated. Alternatively you can show your support by making a donation to the event’s chosen charity, Tommy’s, the baby charity that researches into, and provides information on the causes and prevention of miscarriages, premature birth and stillbirth.
