With just two members of Kent's team that came 5th in this year's Southern 6 stage RR present, Gary Thornton, making his debut for Kent A.C. led the team to bronze medals and a place on the podium as 2nd individual in this year's London Championships at muddy Parliament Hill Fields.

In a race, no doubt as confusing to run in as it was to watch, because runners were able to run for both their club and their county (the U23 Intercounties Champs being run simultaneously) Gary was always 4th overall but was in fact never far behind the London Championship winner, Hugh Lob. He was helped by a return to form by Andrew Dunwoody and the usual solid runs from captain Richard Munn and Michael Claff. Richard winning their private battle for the first time in a race this season. Chris Linnionet's excellent run was unlucky not to be rewarded with a medal.

Also Lee Hine representing Kent CAA for the first time received an U23 intercounties winning team medal, and Siobhann Henry, 5th in the women's U23, also recieved a Kent team medal. As is now the tradition when we visit darkest North London we repaired to the Pineapple pub in KENTish Town.
