DetailsSouthern League division 2, Worthing, match 6. Teams: Abingdon, Worthing, Enfield & Haringey, Epsom & Ewell, Kent AC B-team, Worthing.
Event typeT+F

For those of you who didn't read it in the papers, Kent AC's B Team was promoted to Division 1 of the Southern League. A second place in the match at Worthing meant that we finished a comfortable fifth place in the table, the final promotion spot. The rest of the table was incredibly close, with only four points separating 7th and 22nd:

We in the B Team believe in magnanimity not schadenfreude (let's see if the Lewisham News Shopper use that one) and we express our solidarity with the relegated teams, which include some surprising names such as Adlershot, VPTH and, er, Blackheath.

It was a great team performance with a few individual truimphs aswell. There were pb's for Man of the Match Nuka Kpoturu (triple jump, 110m hurdles), Aaron McCammon (400m), Rawlston Morian again (triple jump), and Tashan Hurmal-Russell (200m). Feidhlim Kelly made his first (and probably last) B Team appearance and it was great to have Courtney Anderson back in the Team. My superb management skills were demonstrated when all four athletes in the guest 200m ran faster than our scoring B string runner; I know how to pick 'em. Best of all, we trounced the A Team in the post-match team-bonding drinking competition, though we've still got some way to go before we catch Herne Hill.

Thanks to everyone who's competed, officiated and helped out this season. I'm off to sign up Dean Macey for next season.
