Another fine performance by the B team in the 2nd Southern league fixture at Eton. On the same day at the Loughborough International there were club records for Jermaine Mays 7.55.98 to win the 3000m beating a strong field, Jay Thomas 15.70 in the shot (junior record), plus Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun ran 21.16 in the 200m to come 3rd.

The B-team came second equal in a tough match at Eton on Saturday (19 May), another result which surpassed expectations. Highlights included Shane's second place in the javelin, Trevor leaping over 6m in the long jump, pb's for Chris in the 5k and Theo in the 800m, and another pb in the triple jump for the Stealth Bomber. He's a legend.

There's now a new B Team 4 x 100m record thanks to Lincoln, Anthony (competing despite a swollen foot in true Bert Trautmann style), Paul and Matthew, who also broke Jeffrey's B Team 200m record and was therefore named Man of the Match. We suprised the officials by entering five guests in the 100m and seven in the 200m. One of them asked me if it was our club champs. As if.

Lots of things attached for statistics junkies and athletics bores to mull over before the next match at Welwyn on 2nd June, after which the season will be half over. So don't leave it too late to get onboard; tell me now if you're coming to sample the joys of Hertfordshire.
