Some great performances in the World Masters Champs in Riccone. Lincoln Campbell qualified in heats to semi final with 11.58secs but unfortunately didn't make the final.
After travelling straight from his holidays in Greece to Italy on Wednesday, Joe Appiah was knackered but still qualified in the long jump with 6.12m on Thurs morning. After a quick snooze he came back in the evening and almost became the world champion with the last jump of 6.81m (same as winner). Joe lost gold on countback and got a silver medal.
Joe will be in the 110m hurdles next week and Lincoln has the 200m on sunday.
Meanwhile back in South London, Jermaine Mays ran 3:59.64 for the mile (I think that's a club record?) at the BMC Grand Prix at Crystal Palace on 25th August. He followed it up with 9:09.19 in the steeplechase. Ladywell regular, Shavaun Henry ran 10:56.70 in the ladies steeplechase at the same meeting.
On Thurs 7 September, Jermaine won the final Assembley league race of the season at Beckenham, leading home a large turnout from Kent AC. Full results to come.
