A group of our junior runners impressed at the London Schools Championships on Saturday. Quasar Mays managed to win the inter boys 400 Hurdles in a seasons best of 64 seconds. It was a small field but you can only beat those who turn up.

Josh Hall was a little disappointed in only coming seventh in the junior 800 metres. He recorded a respectable 2.20 in a very fast race. The boy who won recorded 2.02 - a championship best. Later Josh got third place in the junior 1500 running 4.47, again a seasons best. Also in the race was Andrew Booth an occasional trainer with us. Andrew ran well considering he is not a regular trainer. He ran 4.57.

The inter boys 1500 proved to be an excellent race. Alfred Grimsey tracked the eventual winner for much of the race . Despite recording a a fine PB of 4.12.4, Alfred just couldn't get past the eventual winner who was a second ahead of him. A fine second place though and although he didn't achieve the qualifying time he is in with a definite chance of being picked for the English Schools. Also in the race and missing out on third place by the narrowest of margins was George Quinn. George recorded a PB of 4.28 producing one of his trademark storming finishes.

Rudi Francis was not happy with his 110 hurdles but ran well on his relay leg for Lewisham. Just before the relay Daniel Carr had taken a very creditable third in the junior boys 400 , running 58.3.

All in all , a very promising afternoon.
