B team Picketts Lock Southern League Match report from the club's best columnist, (shame I didn't get them up onto the website with such efficiency!) ...
Morning, chaps. Ten out of ten for efficiency this week, the results on your desk first thing Monday morning. Sir Alan would be proud. I've even put Larry's copy in the post to him (it always makes me laugh that the world's angriest man lives in Cross Close, but I know it shouldn't).
So, third place for the B Team on Saturday at a cold, damp and, let's
face it, pretty desolate Picketts Lock. Havering and Exeter were far and
away the best teams, so we had our own mini-match against Ipswich and
Windsor, Slough, Eton and Hounslow, and I'm pleased to say we narrowly
beat all five of them. It was one of those afternoons where filling
pretty much every event to get a point or two in the B string made the
difference between third and last. Keep it under your hat though,
otherwise other teams might wise up and start doing the same. Finally,
the traditional mentions for athletes making their B Team debuts, on
this occasion Alfred Grimsey in the 1500m and Phil Sanders in the 4600m
run followed by 400m walk.
The next match is on 7th June at Woking.
