A number of Kent AC athletes competed at the Norwich Union Indoor World Trials on the weekend of 9/10 Feb 2008.
In the 200m Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun continued his progress by winning a silver medal after coming 2nd in the final with a time of 21,53secs (21,46secs semi). He was beaten by Chris Clarke. The young 400m specialist won with an impressive time of 20.98secs. Jonathan Browne made the semi final and run 21.73secs.
In the 60m, Jonathan Browne did not have a good race and went out in the heats with 6.97secs. I am sure he still enjoyed the experience of running against the UK best sprinters.
Jeffrey did very well in making the semi finals where he run against Dwain Chambers and Christian Malcolm. He ran 6.83secs against Chambers' 6.60secs winning time.
In the triple jump competition, Matthew Burton was 7th with a 14.88m jump. I know Matt will be disappointed as he was looking for a 15m jump but I'm sre he's still suffering from the injury he sustained at the Kent County Indoors on 26th Jan. Matt shouldn't be as he was in a very good company. A high calibre triple jump competition of Phillips Idowu (European Indoor champ & world finalist), Nathan Douglas (European Indoor silver medalist), Tosin Oke (AAA's Outdoor champ last year) and now veteran Julian Golley (Commonwealth champ).
