DetailsTonbridge, Kent. B Team T+F match Southern League Division 1. Final match of the season.
Event typeT+F

If you haven't already heard, it's bad news for the B Team following a disappointing fifth place at Tonbridge on Saturday. Once again, there were lots of good performances but the high standard of the other teams and our lack of field athletes, particularly throwers, meant that we lost out. That's the story of our season really. We finished fourth from bottom in Division 1 which means that, unless there's all sort of funny goings on in the British or Southern League, we'll be competing in Division 2 next year. It's a pity the League Table isn't done on league points rather than match points, in which case we'd have had eight teams below us.

Our only win all afternoon at Tonbridge came from Paul Egboh's excellent run in the A string 100m. He won Kent AC Man of the Match for this and his performances in the 200m and both relays. An honourable mention goes to Ricardo Martin, who showed real progress in the non-scoring sprints and in the 4x100m relay.

Thanks to the various people who have helped with team management and officiating this summer. We're still looking for a B Team Manager, as we have been for the last two years, who will take on the challenge of getting us back into Division 1 next year. This is probably as good a time as any to say that it will categorically not be me. I'm looking forward to all those nominations at the AGM later in the year.

Best wishes to all for the winter training and racing.
Rob
