On Sunday 5th April Kent AC once again travelled to Milton Keynes to contest the Southern 12 Stage Road Relays. This year’s team was a true blend of youth and experience with too many years to mention separating the ages of our youngest and oldest runners. However, as is normal with any Kent AC team, all gelled well and give their best for the overall result.

After just over four and a half hours of racing we finished 11th – a solid result and easy qualification for the National 12 Stage Relays in two weeks time. This is now the tenth time in succession that Kent AC have qualified for the National 12 Stage and with this milestone we are starting to compile an enviable record for consistently making it through to the top event in the springtime running calendar. Hopefully with the juniors now taking a greater role in the team we can continue to build on this for many years to come.

The details of each Kent AC runner is provided below with the performance of the day coming from James Conner who stormed round leg 5 taking 8 places and crossing the line in 24:30. This transpired to be the tenth fastest long leg of the day overall, which is quite an achievement considering that the previous record was broken twice on the day. Special mention must go to Ian Cardy who made a special effort to race after completing a 2 hour duathlon earlier on Sunday morning. A quick rub down, ice bath and nap at his hotel room was enough to get him ready for his second race of the day in which he produced the fastest Kent AC short leg time!
