Even though it is only the begining of August and I imagine the thought of wet, muddy cross country races are far from most people's minds I thought it was fitting to give advance notice to all runners about the change to next years racing calendar.

Following the unclear future of the Kent XC-Running League, Ken and I have, with the Kent AC committees backing, applied and have now entered Kent AC Senior Mens team into the Surrey League. The League's committee accepted us and we are in the process of doing the paperwork.

Each race is 10 to score and we want to win the lower divisions to allow us to get promoted so we can compete against the likes of Herne Hill, Belgrave and Thames Hare and Hounds. To start with we will have to start in Div 4 against teams that are of a slightly lesser standard than the aforementioned big hitters and we feel there is a very good chance of us winning all the lower divisions.

In order to win the league we need to have a team of ten people at each fixture so as much as possible if runners could make a note of these dates:

10 October, 14 November, 12 Decmeber, 6 February.

We will still have plans to target the big running champs but I believe that the Surrey League gives an opportunity for runners of varying abilities to be part of what we hope will be a victorious team. Nearer the time venues and travel details will be circulated.

And here's a little something to give us an edge on the opposition: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8186947.stm

Might lengthen the toilet queues pre-race though.
