Fifth place for the B Team at Walton-on-Thames last Saturday in a very high quality match. We had a few absentees and then things got worse with injuries to two big points scorers, Trevor Jamieson-Agard and Rawlston Morian. Full marks to those who helped us plug the gaps, particularly Pete Boxshall (in the 400m hurdles and the steeplechase), Andy Moreton (who made a surprisingly good debut in the triple jump), and Paul Egboh (for a storming leg in the 4x400m relay).
Adam Morton knocked twenty seconds or so off his steeplechase pb, doubtless motivated by the fear of losing to Pete, and Ahmed Hassan ran an excellent 800m to get our only A string win of the day. That and his double-up in the 1500m clinched him the cherished Man of the Match accolade.
We've dropped to 12th in the league table. With one match to go, we're not going up, but we're not going down either. That means I will be lazy and won't be wasting my time ringing people who a) never respond or b) say they're coming and then don't show up. So, if you want to join us for the traditional last-fixture-of-the-season mulled wine and fancy dress bonanza at Battersea Park on 31st July, then you only have to hit the "Reply" button.
Until then,
Rob
