A fine finish to the B team's 2010 season with second place at Battersea Park. Going into the last event, the 4x400m relay, we were half a point behind London Heathside. After it we were half a point ahead. In a very enjoyable and well-run match, the highlights included Aaron Broderick's first ever win in the 100m; John Gilbert's winning B Team debut in the 5000m; Ahmed Hassan's pb in the 800m; and the return of Major Lloyd Kirlew.

The two candidates for Man of the Match were Rob Clark, for his double A string win in the sprints, and Hassan Davis, for his richly-deserved pb in the 800m, which was probably the standout performance of the day. So Hassan wins the medal because he also did the 400m (twice) and because, quite frankly, he scares me and probably knows where I live.

Annoyingly I can't find the final league table, but hopefully we've moved up from our previous position of 12th and have finished nicely in the top half of the table. I am pleased - well, staggered actually - to announce that the B Team Man of the Season is Albert Johnson, who scored 73 points in the five matches he competed in. You see how the club is progressing! He was closely followed by his throwing partner Courtney Green (68 points) who will doubtless take up the javelin with enthusiasm in readiness for next season. Third was Trevor Jamieson-Agard (61.5 points) who's won it for the last 27 years and might have done so again if he hadn't missed one match and I'd let him do the pole vault with a broom handle. And if that's not enough statistics for you, over the season we averaged 18.34 competing athletes and 5.34 guests per match.

And if that's not enough statistics for you, you're probably Ken.

ps.
11th place for the B Team in the final Division 2 league table, with 20 league points and an average of 109 match points per fixture:

As expected, handsomely in the top half of the table with plenty of big names below us.
