After a tough heat and even tougher semi final Jack Green produced a big PB in the 400 m Hurdles Final of the WORLD Junior Champs in Canada on Friday. Despite running blind all the way in lane 8 he stormed through to come home in 5th place with PB of 50.46 sec and like all great athletes he produced a PB under the severest of pressure. This obviously puts him at number 5 in the World this year and he now goes to number 3 on the GB all time list.

Not satisfied with that he went one better when on the last leg in the 4 x400m Relay he produced what could well be the fastest ever relay split from a GB U20 with a time of 45.2 secs that earned the team Bronze medals. He took GB from 5th to 3rd with a really committed run to get back them back in contention - despite it being his 5th race in 5 days ! All in all a set of performances that the rest of us can only dream of !

Don't forget to be glued to the TV this week as not 1 but 2 Kent AC guys are representing GB Seniors in the European Champs in Barcelona. Both have simply done superbly well to earn their first individual slots in a major games - a measure of their tremendous dedication in what remains a tough sport. Conrad Williams goes first in the 400m, and last in the 4x400m Relay, and Jeffrey Lawal Balogun goes next in the 200m and hopefully the 4x100m Relay. Well done to both on their magnifent achievement so far and the best of luck from us all.
