At the final Assembly league race of the season at Beckenham, not content to just win the A and B leagues the club went out in style with further emphatic wins for both strings. Rich Munn rounded off his campaign as first scorer and third overall and finished in second place in the individual competition won by Dean Lacy.

The B groups contribution was again vital. Despite second scorer Chris Greenwood’s recent invitation to join the A group we still count him as one of our own, so on this occasion all the other scorers came from B group and juniors. For a considerable part of the race the group of 3rd to 8th scorers ran together- 3 abreast and 2 deep and finished 12th, 14t,h 16th, 17th ,18th and 19th. Yet again the B string would have competed well as an A string, beaten only by our own A string and the Stock Exchange.

It would be interesting to see where our B string would have finished in the A league. Further evidence of our strength in depth is that any of our next 6 – that is 9-14th from the club would have been good enough to win the B string race. Although he could not make the last 2 races Steve Mcgrory still manged to finish 2nd in the Vet 40 competition with Simon Loach 3rd.

A great showing and a few beers afterwards.
