Straight after our B team went top of the men’s Southern League Div 2S and now seem to be favourites for promotion to Div 1 our A team matched them by going top of British League Div 1, also after 2 fixtures.
In our ‘home’ match at Kingston they finished in a comfortable 3rd place despite only “having an average team “according to team, Ken Pike. A great win in the 3000m S/C by James Connor in a new PB of 9min 12sec led the way, coupled with an A string 2nd place from GB International Jeffrey Lawal- Balogun in the 100m in 10.62 sec despite being injured for 8months and both set the team on its way. Darren Green then ran 10.85sec to win the B 100m to gain good points as did Team Captain Joe Appiah as he ran a PB of 15.36sec to set up his planned defence of his World Vets title in California next weekend. Two great runs in the 3000m from Nick Torry and 2hours 19 min Marathon man John Gilbert produced near maximum points and coupled with great points from throwers Dom Sadowski, a Polish U23 International, who threw 68.10 m in coming 2nd in the A Javelin and partner Dan Brunsden who won the B Javelin with a throw of 59.17m the team surged up positions. GB Decathlete Max Hall chipped in with no less than 42 points on the day with a fine B Javelin win and a great High Jump of 1.90m to prove his worth to the team.
Kent AC now go into the last 2 fixtures in pole position as they look to seal promotion to the 8 team Premiership hoping to lock horns with the top clubs in GB in 2012.
