At the English Championships in Bedford this year Kent AC had a good weekend picking up no less than 3 medals at Senior level. They were led by Jeffrey Lawal-Balogun who stormed to the silver medal in the 200m with a season’s best of 21.12 sec – all this despite being injured for the last 9 months ! His obvious talent is now coupled with a real determination to succeed after overcoming an injury spell that would have made lesser mortals give up.

Our 400m specialist, Conrad Williams, moved down a distance to 200m and chased Jeffrey all the way to claim the Bronze medal in a time of 21.26 sec which sets him up nicely for the World Trials, where he attempts to represent GB for the 5th time in a Major Games.

The medals didn’t stop there as England International in the Decathlon, Michael Holden, overcame really difficult conditions in the Pole Vault to secure the Bronze medal with a vault of 4.80m and earn his first ever Senior medal at the National Champs in an individual event.

Our two other representatives both had good days as first John Browne produced a PB in the 100m with a legal time of 10.55 sec which puts him on course to improve his PB’s at both 100m and 200m this season. Next up Lawrence Wooldridge made his first ever Senior Final at National level, also contesting the 200m, coming home in 6th place with a time of 21.67 sec – only just outside his PB.

Also, we must mention a top class performance by Jack Green winning the 400m hurdles at the European u23 champs.
