A winning start to the 2011 season for the B Team at Erith on Saturday, beating the A Teams of Hastings, Horsham Blue Star and Sutton & District Pink Triangle. In the new look Division - in which we compete against just three other teams - there's a maximum of 144 a team can score in a match, so our total of 116 was really impressive. We only dropped two points in the throws, and just ten points in the B string events all afternoon. It's not quite enough to put us top of the table, but we're third.
Ten athletes made really promising Kent AC debuts in scoring or non-scoring events: Josh (LJ), David (800/1500), Chris (5k), Peter (110mH), Mark (400), Ryan (800), Garry (Javelin) and three of our four Emmanuels (100/200/LJ). Amongst the longer-serving athletes, there were double-figure points contributions from veteran steeplechaser Shaun, Albert, B string bully Trevor, and Courtney, who won Man of the Match for his 14 points and excellent relay leg, which came shortly after dropping Andy Murray at the train station. He also found the other Emmanuel's missing car keys.
Next up it's Crawley on 4th June, for what looks like a tough match if early season form is anything to go by.
