A close second place for the B Team at Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday, where we were beaten by just 2.5 points by a strong Herne Hill Harriers team. Let's look on the bright side; last year they walloped us by 33 points and we're still top of Division 2 South.
Lots of good performances throughout the team, including: Josh taking his B Team long jump record to over 7 metres; well-judged wins in the 400, 400h, 800 and 1500 from the two Andys, Quazar, Rawlston and Hassan; brave runs in the chase from Rich and Dan, who set another pb; and a pb and a mb (millennium best) for Steve and Stuart respectively in a high-quality 5000m.
Shaun, Courtney and Albert all scored excellent points once again, and we were really strengthened by the two Emmanuels against strong opposition in the sprints. They were well supported by Aaron, who won Man of the Match for his B string 100 and 200, and his leg in the second fastest ever B Team 4x100 relay. Well done to relay coach Pete Boxshall, who also broke up a fight later in the pub between an elderly dog owner and a guitar-wielding hippy shouting "I bought you dog food". You wouldn't get that in Catford ... no, you would.
So, the last match of the season is on Saturday 13th August in Canterbury. A first place and we're definitely promoted; a second will leave us looking at other results but our points tally will surely be enough. Third or fourth and the end-of-season team bonding trip to Ayia Napa is definitely off.
