Our 10th successive win since joining the league in 2009 has all but secured promotion to Div 1 but Reigate Priory AC will push us all the way if we are to win the league. Despite us scoring 50 points less than the first match it was almost matched by our main rivals we still have a lead of 54pts (368-422pts).

Ben Moreau, in a Kent AC vest for the first time, stormed away from the field from the start and produced an excellent time of 26’ 46” for the 5.2mile course finishing 46 secs clear of Reigate’s Paul Rodgers who came 9th in last year’s National. Our own Chris Greenwood produced another well judged run by coming through on the second lap to take 3rd place.

Our B Squad really delivered the goods as virtually all 8 of them came through on the second lap to ease Ken’s premature worries being led home with excellent runs from Paul Bell and Dan Hale in 9th and 10th places – both representing ‘breakthrough’ runs. Stuart Beaney showed a welcome return of form to get 13th place and captain Rich Munn stormed through the field after stopping with a twisted ankle to get 19th place. Another ‘new boy’ Jack Wilson showed more improvement to come in 24th and demonstrate that there is a lot more to come from him as he closed down another real talent in Rawlston Morian who came home in 21st position.

Our scoring 10 were completed by Alex Moreau in 27th, who will improve as he races more, and Hesham Dahman in 30th who is on a comeback trial as he prepares for the London Marathon.

Luke Armitage came home as 2nd Vet, in 31st place, as a consolation for being outside the scoring 10 and is now in the hunt for the Overall Vets trophy. Our other V40, Stuart Scott, had a much improved run to come home in 46th place just behind Lee Haze(43rd) who showed what a good club man he is by racing despite being injured for some time.

Our U20’s had a good day as ever improving Su-Min Lee had a great run to come home in 38th place and be the first U20 overall - so he has a real chance of securing the league U20 trophy. Our other U20’s had solid runs as steadily improving George Quinn came home 47th and Robbie Fraser (62nd) made his debut over 5 miles. So with Calum Fraser (48th) and Richard Archer (71st) we managed to get no less than 18 of our runners in the top half of the field.

Lastly we left the very pleasant bar in Addiscombe Cricket Club knowing that despite having a record 20 finishers we still have a bit to do to secure the overall League title.
