Several young athletes from the club were competing in the London Schools’ Cross Country Championships, and one in particular distinguished himself. Robbie Fraser had what undoubtedly was his best run over the country in the senior boy’s race, coming home in third place .Robbie ran tenaciously over the always tough home of cross country running, Parliament Hill Fields. The talented Herne Hill runner, Lewis Lloyd, who actually trains with Ken’s ‘A ‘group, was predictably a very comfortable winner .However, nothing should detract from Robbie’s tremendous run which earned him the bronze medal and selection for London in the National Schools’ Championships. In tenth position was Sue Min Lee, the Westminster student, who has put in some excellent performances for the club in the Surrey League in the men’s senior races this season. Sue Min was recovering from a nasty virus which made his tenth place all the more creditable. Although not an automatic selection for London, his previous form may well get him the nod if there are drop outs from the initial selection. In the inter boys race Said Gabo came home tenth, so just outside automatic London selection. But given that Said has also been under the weather, his tenth spot shouldn’t be viewed as too much of a disappointment. And it may well be that he will also gain selection for London

Finally, although not actually members of the club, an honorary mention must go Luke Armitage ‘s three children, Noah, Alfie and Flo. The boys came an impressive second and fifth in their race whilst their sister Florence’s fine fifth position will mean selection for the London Team.
