Road Running

Club runners of all abilities compete in numerous road racing events, and we traditionally field solid teams in the Southern and National Road Relays.

Kent AC also host the annual Sidcup-10 10 mile road race. The fast-flat course tempts runners from all over the South East and is ideally timed as an excellent London Marathon warm-up. See the Sidcup-10 section on this website for more details on this.

The Southern road relays are on Sat 27th Sept. Book in diaries. It is Aldershot as usual. We're looking for a strong M40 and M50 teams, so Luke says no excuses. It would be good if you could race either assembley league at beckenham or club 5000m so the selectors can have a look at current form.

Two 10k wins and a Grunty Fen Half Marathon

Sounds a bit the like the title of a folk tune, but it is running related. A number of club athletes were out in action over the weekend 8/9 September in a number of road races (and probably more that I'm not aware of!) Some great performances with no less than three first places.

After the dreadful weather of the previous week, we were relieved that only a few showers and a moderate wind spoilt otherwise perfect running conditions. As the record field of 400 sped off down Hurst Road, multi Kent County X-country champion Barry Royden opened up an early lead, but by halfway round the first of the 3 laps he had been joined by Kent's James Connor.
