Road Running
Club runners of all abilities compete in numerous road racing events, and we traditionally field solid teams in the Southern and National Road Relays.
Kent AC also host the annual Sidcup-10 10 mile road race. The fast-flat course tempts runners from all over the South East and is ideally timed as an excellent London Marathon warm-up. See the Sidcup-10 section on this website for more details on this.
See below for Kent AC's recent road racing news:
Elmbridge 10k
The newly flourishing B endurance squad turned out in force on Sunday to win the team prize at Elmbridge 10k. Although the times recorded by our runners were a good way off the impressive leading times of 30 minutes 20 seconds and 30 m 25 s, we showed our our new strength in depth in winning a 6 to count team competition awarded on a cumulative time basis.
Southern 12 Stage
Sunday 21st March saw us once again compete in the SEAA Southern 12 Stage Road Relay Championships in Milton Keynes. With bright sunshine but a stiff breeze all the runners knew they would have their work cut out to match last year's result of 11th place.

Assembly League 2010 Provisional Dates & County XC
Here are the provisional Assembly League fixtures for the 2010 season. This is the 35th season in which the League has taken place. We will be visiting the familiar race venues with two visits to the fast and completely flat course at the Dome - although as building work in the area continues this course will remain under review.
6 Stage Road Relays 2009 (Southern and National)
This autumn we managed to turn adversity into opportunity by giving some new faces a chance to run the 6 stage relays while some of our regulars where unavailable. For the Southern 6 Stage in September we fielded three new faces for the event (Graeme Garner, Lee Haze and Phil Sanders) beside three members with more than 20 appearances between them.
October Results Roundup
Congrats to Phil Sanders who came 2nd in the Beachy Head marathon (3:09) on Sat 24th. The winner (Stuart Mills) has now won the event 6 times, so Phil was very pleased to be the best of the rest!
The full results are here.

As the summer season draws to a close it is time once again to turn our attention to the 6 stage road relays.

12 stage national road relays
If any one would like to come along to support the 12 stage team in the National Road Relays in Sutton Coldfield the plan is to meet at Marylebone at 8am on Saturday. Ken is organising tickets there.
Southern 12 Stage Race Report
On Sunday 5th April Kent AC once again travelled to Milton Keynes to contest the Southern 12 Stage Road Relays. This year’s team was a true blend of youth and experience with too many years to mention separating the ages of our youngest and oldest runners.
Club half-marathon record in the Hague
Gary Thornton had a superb run at the City-Pier-City half-marathon in The Hague. He set a club best time for the event and broke his PB by some four minutes in a top quality event, Haile Gebrselassie suffered a shock defeat coming second in 59:50.
The 2009 Sidcup 10
Many congratulations to all competitors in todays Sidcup 10 road race. We had a very strong field this year with 30 athletes running under 60mins, many of these were PBs. This year saw a highly competitive race with the top 3 finishing just 4 seconds apart and the top 2 breaking the 50 minute barrier.
Young Pollock Shines as Kent Finish 15th
Kent AC achieved their second best ever result by finishing 15th at the ERRA National Six Stage Road Relay Championships, but it was Paul Pollock who took the limelight with the fastest ever leg by a Kent AC athlete.
SEAA Men's 6-Stage Championship
Congratulations to all who ran at the Southern Road Relays in Aldershot. It was out best ever turnout at this top class event. With 4 full teams, with the A-team finishing in 5th position out of 92 teams, which equals our best ever position.
SEAA Road Relays and the forthcoming XC Season
The Southern road relays are on Sat 27th Sept. Book in diaries. It is Aldershot as usual. We're looking for a strong M40 and M50 teams, so Luke says no excuses. It would be good if you could race either assembly league at beckenham or club 5000m so the selectors can have a look at current form.
