Alex Yee at the Euro Trials
British Athletics Cross Challenge (including European trials) Sefton Park, Nov 23, 2019
Another impressive performance from Alex Yee
Despite not having had a run over the country for a year, Alex Yee again showed his quality by coming third in the race at Liverpool that served as the trial for selection for the European Cross -Country Championships. The race was won by Ben Connor who’d represented Great Britain in the World Athletics Championships earlier this year. Connor took the race on very early and was always at the front of affairs. Mahamed Mahmed of Southampton who has also been in very good form of late took second. Alex was just eight seconds behind to claim a superb third in the race. It will mean that Alex will be part of a very strong GB under 23 team in the European Championships. Although Alex and Mahamed were ahead of a lot of highly regarded senior athletes, they will contest the under 23 race in which they must surely stand a good chance of claiming medals. At the time of writing on the Athletics Weekly twitter feed there is a post -race interview with Alex talking with AW’s Euan Crumley
