European Cross Country Championships, Lisbon, December 8 Alex Yee second GB athlete in Under 23 race As previously reported, a strong performance in the trials saw Alex Yee picked for the GB under 23 team that contested the European Cross Country Championships last Sunday. Alex came a fine twelfth place in a field of over 80 athletes. He was just a few seconds behind Mahamad Mahamad, GB’s first scorer. The early leaders set a blistering pace on a tough, undulating course. Alex started steadily and had a very strong second half. Although there were medals for the majority of the British teams, unfortunately Alex’s Under 23’s just missed out finishing fourth in the team stakes. In this week’s Athletics Weekly, there is a feature on Alex in which he talks about his plans to compete in the Highgate Night of 10,000 PB’s again.
