RESULTS
Alex Yee 2nd fastest British 5k of all time:
Alex Yee clocked 13.26 at the Podium 5k on Saturday night, making him the second fastest Brit all-time on the road. The triathlete ran under the previous British record of 13.27, but was beaten by Marc Scott, who ran 13.20, almost setting a new European best in the process. You can watch the race here or read AW’s review.
Joe Appiah back on track in Budapest:
Joe Appiah ran 15.29 in the 110m hurdles in Budapest in the only EAP outdoor event so far this year. The sprinter received an invite from the organisers which allowed him to be exempt from the 14-day quarantine on arrival in Hungary, but he did need to supply two negative Covid-19 tests before travelling. Joe has put together a video on his Instagram of the trip and the race.

UPCOMING RACES
Club Champs:
It’s looking like it’s going to be time to pull on our Kent vests again! Club Champs could be be taking place over the coming weeks at Sutcliffe Park. Due to current restrictions in place races will be fixed at a maximum of six people per race and 3000m will be the longest distance. The current thinking is having 800m, 1500m and 3000m races across three dates. However, if there is a strong preference towards one or two distances we might juggle things about a bit. We’d like to make sure that everyone gets a chance to race, so if you are wanting to enter can you please answer this quick survey.
Track racing next week:
Lee Valley Athletics Centre is hosting track events next weekend (15th and 16th August), including 200m, 800m, 300m/400m hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault, Hammer and Javelin. Entry is £8, but due to Covid-19 restrictions each athlete can only enter one event. U15 and U17 will be competing on Saturday and Sunday will be U20, Seniors and Masters. If you want to enter click here for Saturday and here for Sunday.
