Secret Showdown
This week saw more spectacular racing as Kent AC gathered once more at Beckenham Place Park
for what has been this year’s most consistently staged cross country fixture. HUGE thanks to Pete Lighting and Jonathan Tipper for organising these events over the last four weeks. While the series will be taking a break due to the new restrictions we look forward to the league continuing in months to come. Pete and Jonathan have done a great job with their incredibly fun to read race reports and you can read this and previous weeks reports here.
Herne Hill Harriers Halloween Endurance meeting
In a ‘treat’ for track fans, Herne Hill put on a rare October track meet at the Battersea Millennium
Track on Saturday. A number of Kent runners raced across the 1500m and 3000m with some strong age group placings:
1500m
Kieran John Fitzpatrick – 4:54.1
3000m
Teresa Murphy, 11.06.1, 2nd V40 Female
Paul McCrone, 11:15.1, 3rd V50 Male
RunThrough Lee Valley 5k
Congratulations to Jamie McCall on running a 5k PB at the Lee Valley Halloween 5k on Saturday with
a swift 17.34 on an undulating course!
RunThrough Olympic Park
In windy conditions this morning several Kent athletes tackled the rolling and twisting Olympic Park
10k course in what may be the last race opportunity for members for a while. Benedict Holmes ran
36.51, Georgina Wiley 38.25 for first female, and Laurie Garrett 38.50 for an almost two and a half
minute PB.
Well done to all runners who have made the most of a limited season over the last few months and we look forward to when races can commence again!
