GOLDEN TIMES IN TOKYO
What a week for Alex Yee in Tokyo, winning both Silver in the Individual Triathlon & GOLD in the Mixed Relay. The club couldn’t be more proud, and the outpouring of support and congratulations from SE London has been magic – just take a look at Lionel Stanhope’s mural in Brockley.
Last Sunday (and early hours of Monday) Kent AC managed to fill the Blythe Hill Tavern with 40-50 members, creating an unforgettable atmosphere to watch Alex win Silver in a great display of bold front-running.
The party continued into Monday, with club coach Ken Pike even featuring on BBC London News as part of a feature on Alex’s medal success. Then it wasn’t long before Alex was in action again on Friday evening, sealing a fantastic team performance in the anchor leg of the Triathlon Mixed Relay event. Alex pulled ahead on the run after a brief scare as Frenchman Vincent Luis surged past on the bike, but it proved a composed performance that was well worth staying up to watch!
What’s more, the Kent AC action in Tokyo isn’t over yet, with club life member, Paul Pollock, racing in the Men’s Marathon on Saturday at 11pm.

SOUTHERN ATHLETICS LEAGUE
We are likely to be short of competitors in the jump events (Long, High and Triple), so if you feel a spring in your step, and have been bounding over puddles in this lovely weather, please sign up.
We are especially short on officials, so if you are able to spare some time to help out then please get in touch below – no experience is necessary to get involved!
We are currently placed 77th out of 97th. This is something we can definitely improve in our last two fixtures. The table is available at Southern Athletics League – 2021.
The next fixture of the southern athletics league takes place on Sunday 14 August in Erith Leisure Centre, DA8 3AT. Please add yourself to the spreadsheet if would like to compete. If you are able to volunteer, do get in touch.
The timetable can be found at: Southern Athletics League Timetable. Feel free to contact Ian Ellwood or Vic Buck if you have any questions.
