KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN
19 DECEMBER 2021
RACING ON HOME TURF
The South of Thames Senior Race returned to Beckenham Place Park, but conditions yesterday were much kinder than those that greeted runners back in 2018. Nonetheless, it was a strong showing from all involved, and special thank you to all those who volunteered their time to pull the event off.
Over the constantly undulating 7.5 mile course, we had two runners feature in the top 10 overall as men and women raced together with Chris Busaileh in 6th and Sean Fitzpatrick coming home 10th, whilst Calum Fraser closed out the scoring six in a total score of 105 for the men. In the 12-to-score competition, the men packed tightly to close out in 45 places with Richard Giles, which should secure the 12-team trophy alongside the massive 6-team shield, however we are still waiting on final results.
For the women we had excitement at the front with Amelia Pettitt nabbing a late win however, running as a 2nd claimer, she unfortunately wasn’t legible to count. Nonetheless, the depth on the women’s team was enough for 2nd team overall, with Katie Rowland also having a great run to take home a bronze individual medal. So plenty to celebrate!
