KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN
30 JANUARY 2022
RESULTS ROUND UP
At the London Indoor Games at Lee Valley, Joe Appiah was just a smidge outside the M50 World Record for the 60mH finishing in 8.25s (WR 8.24s). Fantastic result, Joe!
More results from this meet in next weekend’s newsletter.
And in the great outdoors:
In the SEAA Cross Country meet in Beckenham Place Park on 30 January, both the senior men and women’s teams acquitted themselves well (junior round-up below). The women came 8th, with storming runs by Katie Rowland in 31:54 and Sarah Hanley in 32:32. The men came 9th with Cameron Dockerill running a fantastic 53:33 and Tom Mower and Dan Pettitt close behind in 53:52 and 53:56 respectively .
It was a beautiful, unwontedly balmy January day in this glorious local park and everyone appreciated the vociferous support for Kent AC all around the course.
There are just two fixtures (three if you’re lucky) remaining of the traditional cross country calendar, so make the most of it.
Saturday 19th February – Surrey League Match 4, Effingham Common
Saturday 26th February – National Championships, Parliament Hill (entries closed)
Saturday 12th March – BMAF Vets Championship, Tonbridge
Saturday 12th March – Inter Counties XC, Loughborough

JUNIOR NEWS
Tallulah and Elena both raced in the U13 girls. Elena bravely went with the lead pack, which is no mean feat. Although it didn’t turn out to be her race, she left us in no doubt as to what she is capable of. Tallulah has improved remarkably and looked majestic and determined coming towards the finish. It’s hard to believe that it’s only been a few months since she joined the club; it looks like she’s been running for years.
The U13 boys saw George, Lukas, Harry and Cillian make up our first full team finish at cross country for some time. George was first Kent AC home, Lukas and Harry shortly after, well done to Cillian for pushing through despite an injured ankle.
U15 Boys
Olly Buck 44th in 16.42, Jasper Jones 114 in 17.56
U13 girls
Tallulah Jones 152 in 14.15
U13 Boys
Team result, 17th out of 49

WIN YOURSELF A TRACK PASS!
To be added to the rota simply email Jacqueline/Simon at (jacquelinea3@hotmail.com / simon.allen@kingschurchlondon.org).
This week the track pass was won by Will Pitt, who kindly donated it back to the draw as he’s already invested in an annual pass, so the re-drawn lucky volunteer is Joshual Lennard-Jones.
Enjoy your free running, Joshua!
We only need each track attendee to volunteer a couple of times a year to spread the responsibility fairly! Many hands make light work!
T&Cs for the track pass draw:
All volunteers for the current month will be added into the hat for a draw each month.
The winner will win a free pass for the next calendar month.
Names will be automatically drawn from https://namepicker.net/ (or similar alternative)
The winner can either chose to:
use their free pass within a calendar year
allow their free pass to roll down to another volunteer
annual pass holders can nominate another club member if they cannot make use of the pass themselves
No refunds/discounts will be provided in place of the free monthly pass.
Volunteers will only be eligible to win a pass once every three months.

KENT AC VET WOMEN UPDATE
Aged 35 or over? You’re a veteran runner, then (or vet for short). It’s not too late to complete the Vet’s Survey, which is your opportunity to share your thoughts on vet activity at Kent AC for the year. It just takes a few minutes
Take the survey here
Nicky Hayes, our very own vet champ, would really like to hear from new club members so that they can express your views and be included in all the activities planned for the coming year. More information coming soon.
For those vet women who love a cross country run, we recommend the British Masters XC Champs, Tonbridge. This meet takes place on 12 March 2022. Watch out for email and WhatsApps on the subject, or contact Nicky direct on nicky.hayes@tiscali.co.uk or at the track, where you’ll find Nicky running with the C (Adrian’s) group
