Blue Steel: we’re so hot right now
KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN
10 July 2022
Sweltering conditions notwthstanding, we’ve had a busy week’s racing, with stunning results from Joe Appiah and Will Pitt at the World Masters, and, closer to home, a steamy team turnout at last Thursday’s outrageously sweaty Assembly League. Then there was the slightly cooler club parkrun takeover at the famously speedy Dulwich course. Read on for some scorchio results.
RACING HIGHLIGHTS
The third Assembly League in Hackney’s Victoria Park felt every inch of 3.5 miles in the torrid conditions, not to mention the fact that it was flying ant day (a sure sign of uncomfortable humidity). Still, we had a great turnout for the race, and some fine results: Jake Simmonds was fourth man overall and number one Kent AC guy. Katie Rowland shot ahead of Clare Elms to claim the number one Kent AC woman crown, but KentAC Women earned First Team spot, so Katie, Clare and Sarah Hanley can be thanked for that. Some of the results went AWOL, so excuse the vagueness.
The next race will be in shorter, sweeter Beckenham on 4 August.
World Masters Championships, Finland
Joe Appiah won gold in both the hurdles and the 4x100m relay. Many congratulations.
Joe currently holds the British Record for the 100m hurdles (13.85s).
Will Pitt competed in the V50 10k road race and came eighth with 35.56.
And below is a family-friendly snap of Kent AC’s Dulwich takeover. Speedy buggyrunner Peter Lighting there.
