ROUNDUP: KENT YOUTH ATHLETICS LEAGUE MATCH 4 IN TONBRIDGE
U13/U15Â Division 2
Junior coach Dan Ansell writes:Â
On a baking hot day, despite the long journey to the event location and many of our athletes away on holiday our team performance can only be described as magnificent. What a group! Out of 18 athletes we had 4 debutants, well done to Isaiah Mensah, Qixuan Han, Beth Eden-Green and Celia Cook competing for the club for the first time. We came 6th of 8 in the match and 6th of 8 overall in the league.
Match highlights included wins and club records in the 3 age group 4 x 100m events we entered, well done to the under 13 boys (Isaiah, Qixuan, Derek Olewunne and Cillian Clough winning in 57.3), under 15 girls (Eliza Pitt, Siv Eliassen, Sophia Sahai and Clio Parkes winning in 52.7) and under 15 boys (Kyros Olewunne, Iyanu Stevens, Micah Payne-Cook and Jack Jones winning in 49.3), respectively.
The atmosphere amongst the team (athletes, coaches, parents and volunteers) has been nothing short of fantastic. At the end of our first season we have exceeded our expectations and have been generally competitive in every event we enter. We have all been on a sharp learning curve but what stands out is how our youngsters have grown in confidence and worn their vest with pride.
Kent AC Juniors – the future looks bright thanks to everyone involved.
