KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN
25 August 2024
Masterful
Yesterday (Saturday, 24 August), hurdles supremo Joe Appiah travelled back from the World Masters Athletics Athletics Championships in Gothenburg garlanded with prizes.
Joe came fourth in the long jump and 4x100m relay last week, but saved the best until last. In the 100m hurdles he was first M50 in an astounding time of 14:13 seconds. It just happened to be blowing a hooley while he did this. Chapeau, Joe! Or should we say bra gjort!.
We’ll raise a glass to Joe at the final track summer social on Tuesday, 27 August (maybe just a swift half if we have a swift half in mind for the following Sunday).
In terms of the month ahead, after the Big Half, there’s the the thrilling matter of the Club Champs on the track on 12 September and those all-important Road Relays nine days later. Read on for more Kent AC diary details.
CHAMPS ON THE TRACK
CLUB CHAMPS 🏆

CHAMPS ON THE ROAD
Hard to believe but it’s time to start thinking about the autumn relay season. (The best time of the year).
This year the Southerns are at Rushmoor Arena at Aldershot on Saturday 21st September and the Nationals are, as usual, at Sutton Park on Saturday 5th October.
The Southerns has V40, V50 and V60 categories (the Nationals is seniors only). It would be great to have strong representation across all teams if possible.
Alexa P will be organising the women’s seniors, Chris B will be sorting out the men’s seniors and Jules G will be sorting the vets teams. Sign up sheet link below.
Entries close on the 5th September so we’ll be looking to have teams sorted in the next few weeks. If there are any questions, just let one of the captains know.
HYDRATION IS KEY
Everyone is welcome to join the final track summer social of the year on 27 August after training. Drinks will be provided.
Save the date now, whether you’re running or spectating… Post Big Half celebratory drinks will be held at Salt Deptford for craft beer and pizza on 1st September from 12pm 🍕
