National 12-Stage Report

Despite not having 5 of our team that medalled at the Southern 12 Stage with Jermaine, Florian, Rich out of the country and James and Mark injured their replacements from the B group stepped up to the mark really well on the day.

After unexpectedly qualifying for this year indoor UK senior trials in Feb at Sheffield, I was confident going into the competition with a chance of a medal but my main aim this winter was to break the British M40 age group 60m hurdles record of 8.

Historic third place in Southern 12 stage relay

Yet another memorable day was ensured when our 12 stage team came home in a magnificent third place and bronze medal winners in this prestigious race. We knew beforehand that we had a strong team and Ken’s pre race permutations had us in the frame for a possible medal.

National XC Champs 2012

A rather smaller team than had been anticipated flew the flag for the club at the National X Country championships at a sun bathed Parliament Hill on what was the 125th running of the championships. With injuries and other assorted factors conspiring to see us turning out a rather slimmed down team, the guys who ran still did the club proud.

Division 1 here we come...

We wanted to go up in style and despite having a small select team – go up in style we did. Although for earlier fixtures we had almost enough runners for two teams on this occasion we had only 12 runners.

2012 Sidcup 10 - Results now posted

After a week of unpredictable weather, the 2012 Sidcup 10 went ahead with over 300 runners braving the cold temperatures. Paul Martelletti of Victoria Park Harriers came home first in 50m 27s. Colin Norris (53m 58s) from Blackheath & Bromley held of Kieran White (54m) of Hercules Wimbledon for 2nd place.

Great runs at the South of England XC Champs

Just like to say a big thank you to all those who ran, especially Pete who braved the 9 mile course just so we could finish a team of 12 runners and retain our title of first Kent club!

Success for Kent athletes in London Schools’ XC

Several young athletes from the club were competing in the London Schools’ Cross Country Championships, and one in particular distinguished himself. Robbie Fraser had what undoubtedly was his best run over the country in the senior boy’s race, coming home in third place .

Another win at the Surrey League

Following last week’s outstanding result in the Kent County Championships, any worries of an anti-climax in the third Surrey league fixture were soon dispelled – probably on the train down when the strength of the team became clear.
