Alex Yee At World U20 Champs

Our own Alex Yee had a good day at the World U20 Athletic Champs were he more than justified his selection in the 5000m. He is the first GB athlete to ever be selected for these prestigious champs in the 5000 m which were held in hot conditions in Bydgoszez, Poland on 23rd July – even Mo Farah was not deemed to be good enough to be selected for these champs!

In hot, humid conditions he ran a good race despite some very erratic pacing in the early part of the race which varied from 70” a lap to 61” and then back to 70”. He kept his nerve in the large field of 25 runners and he came home in a highly creditable 9th place in a time of 13 mins 52.01 secs – a new Club Record and a PB into the bargain.

Another great run from him which bodes really well for the future when he will not be competing against guys with dubious birth dates!
