British and Irish Masters International
British and Irish Masters International, Aintree, Nov 16, 2019
Some of you will be aware, our own Neil Phillips had been selected to represent England in the prestigious Masters International cross -country event that took place on Saturday. Neil ran really well in the V40 race. His race was a combined one which meant there were V35’s and V45’s in the race. Neil was 28th overall (7th V40), but the second England scorer behind the V40 race winner Matt Barnes. It meant the England team in this event earned silver, behind a winning Irish team. The race is always very competitive and time wise Neil wasn’t actually far off those at the very front of the field. As they usually do, England dominated in most of the races, although not in the younger age categories where there was success for the other nations.
Dulwich Runner Clare Elms, who also runs for us on the track, unsurprisingly took gold in her age category. She was part of a winning England team. Again, Clare was in a race which featured younger age categories. However, there weren’t many ahead of her. She was running in the W55 and finished ahead of all those running in the W50 category. Ҍ
