Pain is temporary, pride is forever
KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN

THE MAGIC OF THE LONDON MARATHON
We’ve waited 891 days for this, and today the Virgin Money London Marathon did not disappoint. As many a Kent AC athlete kicks back in either The Chandos public house or, more sensibly, a nice Epsom salts bath, we’d like to congratulate every one of our runners today. Whether you went through the pain for a charity close to your heart, a PB, that Good For Age ticket to run next year, or the glory of your beloved club: you did us proud.
Special congratulations are in order for Kent AC women Nicky Hayes, whose 3:32.40 must surely put her in the top 5 for a VW60, and to Georgina Wiley, who ran an elegant and excellent 2:57.23,
There were many stand-out runs among the men, but Joe Hartley’s 2:28.06 represents a 13 minute improvement on his last outing, and Peter Lighting made it look easy in 2:33.
As for the juniors in the Mini Marathon…let’s hear it for the extraordinary Elena Oliphant, who was second in her age group (under 13 girls) with a time of 09:13. Thank you to Phil for a wonderful WhatsApp commentary, photos and quickfire results stream, which are recorded below. This being news from WhatsApp, there are some unknown surnames. Apologies to those runners we missed:

ARE YOU OUR NEXT CLUB PRESIDENT?
Presidential Election coming up
Last week we published a fond farewell from our current president, who is now living in the Lake District, a bit of a commute from Ladywell track. He’ll be stepping down at the November AGM.
Are you up to the job?
We’d love to hear from you if you fancy taking the helm.
