Brrrring on the Nationals…

KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN
22 JANUARY 2023
In a brief respite from racing (your parkrun was a run, remember, not a race), we turn our attention to fuelling properly for running in these baltic conditions, and resting up before next weekend’s Beckenham meet, and the Nationals, fast coming up on 25 February and possibly needing you to confirm your place at the Big Chester Awayday (see below).
As far as the fuelling is concerned, our esteemed resident Ontrack nutritionist Zuzana Nemeckova was representing up in Birmingham this weekend, at The Running Show. She was on a panel of experts discussing and answering questions about endurance running after 40 with someone called Jo Pavey. Fantastic work, Zuzana!

NATIONAL XC 25 FEB: YOU COMING?
With the National Cross Country Championships fast approaching on 25th February, it’s now time to confirm your spot for the trip to Cheshire.
Please purchase the relevant travel and accommodation package here
As soon as possible
People who have said they will come but haven’t paid for their transport and/or accommodation can expect a polite follow-up message from Dan.
It will cost £40, which will include travel to and from Euston, coach travel to and from the race, and a stay over in Chester on Saturday night after the race. There is also a £20 option for those who would like to travel back on Saturday and not stay overnight.
Please note that once you have paid, this will be non-refundable, given the sunk costs involved.
If you are travelling from elsewhere, XC Captains will follow up with you separately.
Further information regarding juniors will be sent separately too.

MUD, DAMN MUD AND STATISTICS
There has been a lot of XC action of late, so handicap results are in following the 3rd Surrey League match!
As a reminder these are calculated as a performance against your handicap, adjusted for the number of Kent finishers in that race.
For example, if your handicap was 5 and you were 4th Kent finisher on that day (in an average sized field), then your resulting score would be -1.
Across the winter it’s your best/lowest five scores that contribute overall (out of the 4 Surrey Leagues, 2 SoT races, Kent County, Southerns & Nationals).
Current Standings 🥇
Women
1) Lucy Elms
2) Nesrin Sabanci
3) Anabelle Hadlow
Men
1) Isaac Maxwell
2) Cameron Dockerill
3) John Gilchrist
The season is not over, still all to play for! 💪🏻
Full results from all fixtures so far are here: women’s handicap scores and men’s handicap scores.
