KENT AC NEWS BULLETIN
26 June 2022
On a more serious note: everyone loves racing to train, but for every exciting event in the race diary, organisers needs volunteers to make it happen, so we’re asking everyone to do their utmost to help out at the roster of events we’ve got lined up for you. Read the section OFFICIALLY NEEDED to find out how you can help…
RESULTS JUST IN
We’ve just come to the end of a great weekend of racing. On Saturday Kent AC runners were Top Cats at Catford parkrun; five out of the top six finishers were club members; a special mention must go to Jonathan Tipper, who was late to the Catford party, and, having mistakenly run to Hillyfields and and starting four minutes behind, overtook most of the field to secure his tenth place. Chapeau! One day he’ll show up on time. But it’s a run, not a race, after all, isn’t it?
Sunday was North Downs Run, and a few Kent women: Victoria Buck, Theresa Murphy, Zuzana Nemeckova, Sarah Young and Ronnie Haydon took on the hilly 30k course. The day belonged to our leader Victoria Buck, who was third woman and first VW45, and won a Masters medal for her category to boot:
OFFICIALLY NEEDED
Your club needs you!
There are four remaining league fixtures, and possibly some club track championships in the pipeline.
We badly need officials for these, especially the two remaining SAL matches. Without officials there will be no matches and all the great success Ian and Vic and their fine team have created will be squandered.
You don’t need a qualification, duties aren’t onerous and in fact are good fun. You also get travel covered & a free lunch!
The fixtures are:
16-Jul: SAL Tooting
6-Aug: KYAL Tonbridge
13-Aug: SAL Tooting
We also need people to do courses in field, starter, track judge and timekeeping and the club will pay for these and your EA subs.
Contact Len to volunteer or for more information.

It’s a great day of racing and a lot of fun.
The event is open to everyone who can run under 55mins for 10km. Races will be seeded to ensure athletes run in races suited to their ability.

JUNIOR NEWS
We’re still awaiting final results but it was nip and tuck the whole day between the top 5 teams so anyone’s guess where we ended up. Watch this space next week for definitive results.
Many thanks to all the coaches and officials who gave up their time to volunteer at this event. Can you help? Here’s another reminder about why it’s so fulfilling:
