Southern Athletics League – our Norman Conquest?
Please fill out the spreadsheet if you can compete. https://kentac.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=f0db47699642af1107dbe9f0c&id=a70e5ffcc3&e=eb03ac3d32. We need officials for both track and field events. In the field were doing the high jump and javelin; track as allocated. Experience or qualification are not necessary. The day gets underway at 11.30 and it’s fine if you can only come for part of it. The more the merrier as it means people can have a break. We’ve a small squad who have helped this and previous years and it would be great if this could be expanded. It’s also fun, and you get a free lunch and can legitimately wear a white polo shirt.
Please contact Len Reilly – leonard.reilly@googlemail.com if you’re available

CROSS COUNTRY SEASON IS FAST APPROACHING
As well as the Will Bolton relays on 18 September, we are promised a full programme of cross country running for the winter. A list is being prepared for your diaries as you read this, but please contact Sarah Hanley or Dan Pettit if you can’t wait to find out how much cross country running improves your spring marathon fitness.
It looks like both men & womens Surrey league fixtures will be at the same venue, which is good news!

JUNIORS UPDATE
Please see a detailed report from John Barron about Junior events here
Young runners can find out how to sign up for Club training night on Tuesday 31 August, plus Endurance and cross country training on Thursday 2 September at 6.30pm.
Adrian Musson wil also be leading a parents’ fitness class on Tuesday 7 September at 5.45pm. To sign up for any/all of these, please see the links within the document.
John also writes glowingly about the achievements of young Elena, who
‘ran brilliantly (last) weekend at the South of England champs. She ran 2:17.6 in the final but was edged into silver by 0.2 seconds. It was a fantastic race – the fastest under 13 girls 800 meters ever in the U.K. The girl in 4th place ran 2:20 which would ordinarily win gold in every North of England or South of England championship.
Hass and I were really proud of Elena. That time makes her the all-time fastest in London and number 3 in the U.K. this year. It is a testimony to Hassan’s training and emphasis on S&C.’
Congratulations, Elena!

HOW’S YOUR DECEMBER LOOKING?
Here’s an early date for the diary and a call for volunteers:
The South of Thames Senior CC will be hosted by us in Beckenham Place Park on Sat 18th December.
We just need bodies who are not running it to stand around and stick their arm out to point runners in the correct direction. It does not need any experience at all. We will require volunteers to be at the Park at 1:15 pm for a quick brief and to allocate where on the course they will stand. The race is due to start at 2pm and will be finished at 3pm.
