LADYWELL 100000 IS BACK
The atmosphere was electric, the music was blasting, the food and drink stand sold out, and most importantly there were a number of exciting races on the track!
In the A race the overall male winner was 2.16 marathon runner Norman Shreeve of Cambridge & Coleridge who finished in a time of 30.41. Norman holds a 10k road best time of 29.57 and a track time of 30.18. After sticking with a small pack through the first few miles Norman broke away and ended up finishing ten seconds ahead of second place getter Tewelde Menges who closed strongly after losing contact with Norman to bag himself a 30-second PB. Kent AC’s own Cameron Dockerill continued on his streak of PBs coming home in third taking 21 seconds off his previous mark set at the Walthamstow Fast Friday earlier in the summer.
Lara Bromilow, a Kent AC second claimer, had the race of her life (so far) and certainly one of the most exciting races to watch on the day as she stuck with pacer Jonathan Beatty for the early miles before leaving him behind and hunting down eventual winner of her race Ollie Shortt from London City Athletics Club. While she ran out of track Lara’s last 200m looked like a flat-out sprint and she closed the gap to Ollie finishing only six seconds behind in a big PB of 35.46 to be crowned the overall female champ of the day!
Across the other races there was lots of great racing and it was fantastic to see so many Kent vests across all races. Well done to everyone who ran – we look forward to seeing you again next year! A big thanks goes to all the volunteers who generously gave up their sunday to help ensure a wonderful day. There are way too many to mention but a special thank you to race director Dave Morgan and 2IC Amelia Pettitt for all their efforts to make the day a success!
